David Van Andel played a prominent role in bringing professional hockey back to Grand Rapids in 1996. He is co-owner and chairman of the two-time Calder Cup champion Griffins.
Van Andel is chairman and CEO of Van Andel Institute in Grand Rapids. He is also an entrepreneur involved in several other business interests in the natural and life science products industries. He currently serves as a member of Amway’s Board of Directors on its Executive, Governance and Audit committees. He is also active in numerous business, cultural and community organizations including The Right Place Economic Development Agency and The Economic Club of Grand Rapids.
Van Andel was born and raised in Grand Rapids, and he graduated from Hope College in Holland, Mich. He and his wife, Carol, have four children and three grandchildren.
