LONG TIME, NO SEE
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins on Wednesday signed defenseman Philippe Plante to a professional tryout and added goaltender Logan Koopmans on reassignment by the Detroit Red Wings from the ECHL’s Toledo Storm.
Plante, who shows five goals and 27 points in 20 games with the UHL's Muskegon Fury, scored 38 points (14-24—38) in 124 games with the Griffins from 1999-03 and still places ninth all time on the club with a plus-41 rating. He was a member of four consecutive division championship teams during his first stint in Grand Rapids.
Koopmans ranks among the ECHL’s leaders this season with eight wins (8-3, T3rd), one shutout (T3rd), a 0.919 save percentage (7th) and a 2.60 GAA (8th) in 11 games.
Both players will be available tonight when the Griffins host the Hamilton Bulldogs in a 7 p.m. start at Van Andel Arena.
