WINGS RECALL LASHOFF, GRIFFINS BRING UP McCARRON

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Friday recalled defenseman Brian Lashoff from the Grand Rapids Griffins, while the Griffins recalled defenseman Patrick McCarron from the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye.

An alternate captain with the Griffins, Lashoff has two points (1-1—2) and four penalty minutes in 13 games this season. A key piece to the Griffins’ 2017 Calder Cup, the 27-year-old recorded 11 points (3-8—11) and 32 PIM in 62 regular season games last year before chipping in four points (1-3—4) in 17 postseason contests.

Lashoff, a 6-foot-3, 221-pound blueliner, has played in 343 regular season games in Grand Rapids – which ranks sixth in the team’s record book – since 2008-09 and totaled 71 points (17-54—71), a plus-15 rating and 169 PIM. One of only three players in franchise history to be a part of both the 2013 and 2017 Calder Cup championships, Lashoff has added 16 points (4-12—16) in 68 Calder Cup Playoff games.

In his eighth full year as a professional, Lashoff has skated in 122 games with the Red Wings over parts of four seasons (2012-15, 2016-17), contributing 13 points (2-11—13) and 57 PIM while also appearing in eight Stanley Cup Playoff contests. He averaged 12:30 of ice time in five appearances with Detroit last season.

McCarron, 23, is skating in his first full professional season and has not appeared with the Griffins this year. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound blueliner has tallied four points (2-2—4) and a plus-four rating in 11 games with the Walleye.

Prior to turning pro, McCarron played four seasons at Cornell University, where he accumulated 50 points (12-38—50) in 123 career games from 2013-17. He ranked second on the team in scoring with 25 points (6-19—25) in 35 games as a senior and was named to the All-Ivy League Second Team while helping the Big Red reach the NCAA Tournament.

McCarron has made one career appearance with the Griffins, playing in the 2016-17 regular season finale at Milwaukee and tallying his first pro point on an assist.

Tonight, Detroit hosts the Buffalo Sabres at 7:30 p.m. while the Griffins are in Iowa to face the Wild at 8 p.m. EST.
