RED WINGS, GRIFFINS MAKE ROSTER MOVES

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Saturday assigned defensemen Robbie Russo and Filip Hronek to the Grand Rapids Griffins, and recalled defenseman Dan Renouf and forward Dominik Shine from the Griffins. Detroit has also released forward Corey Elkins from his professional tryout, returning him to Grand Rapids. In addition, the Griffins have assigned goaltender Pat Nagle and defenseman Kevin Tansey to the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye.

Grand Rapids will make its practice debut at Van Andel Arena on Monday.

The Griffins will raise their 2017 Calder Cup championship banner and begin the defense of their title on Friday, Oct. 6 at Van Andel Arena against Manitoba when the puck drops on the 2017-18 season with Opening Night presented by Huntington Bank.
