PULKKINEN'S PROMOTION

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Thursday recalled right wing Teemu Pulkkinen from the Grand Rapids Griffins and reassigned defenseman Richard Nedomlel from Grand Rapids to the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye.

A native of Vantaa, Finland, Pulkkinen was selected earlier this week to play in the 2015 AHL All-Star Classic. He leads the AHL in goals (20) and shots (125), while tying for second in scoring with 39 points (20-19—39) in 33 games with the Griffins this season. In Wednesday’s 3-2 overtime victory versus the Charlotte Checkers, Pulkkinen scored Grand Rapids’ equalizer to mark his eighth game in a row with a goal, tying Donald MacLean’s 2005-06 franchise-record goal-scoring streak. In addition to his current streak, the 5-foot-10, 185-pound right wing has recorded a six-game point streak from Oct. 11-31 (4-4—8) and an eight-game point streak from Nov. 12-29 (5-10—15).

Detroit’s fourth choice (111th overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Pulkkinen made his NHL debut with the Wings last season on March 14 versus Edmonton, when he became the 141st Griffins alumni to play in the NHL. In three games with Detroit last season, Pulkkinen went scoreless and picked up four shots. In 106 career games with Grand Rapids, the 23-year-old has earned 99 points (51-48—99), 56 penalty minutes and a plus-16 rating.

A native of Jablonec nad Nisou, Czech Republic, Nedomlel has notched seven points (2-5—7) in 18 appearances with Toledo this season. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound defenseman appeared in three contests with the Griffins last season, registering two penalty minutes and one shot on goal, and also skated in 60 games with the Walleye, racking up 18 points (8-10—18) and 150 PIM. The 21-year-old Nedomlel was Detroit's eighth choice (175th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

The Red Wings will continue their six-game road trip as they pay a visit to the Washington Capitals on Saturday at 7 p.m., when Pulkkinen will be available to play.

On Friday, the Griffins will host a rematch with the Charlotte Checkers at Van Andel Arena at 7 p.m.
