GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Friday reassigned goaltender Tom McCollum from the Grand Rapids Griffins to the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye for conditioning, while the Griffins assigned defenseman Scott Czarnowczan to the Walleye.

McCollum has played in 10 games with the Griffins this season, posting a 4-6-0 record, a 2.53 goals against average and a 0.924 save percentage. Injured while earning his fourth straight win with a 4-1 decision over Lake Erie on Dec. 5, he has missed the Griffins’ last 17 games.

Detroit’s first choice (30th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, McCollum has played in 251 games in his professional career, including three in Detroit (2010-11, 2014-15) and posts a 2.83 GAA.

Playing in his second professional season, Czarnowczan appeared in both of the Griffins’ games in Charlotte this week and did not record a point. He has also accumulated eight points (2-6—8) and 20 penalty minutes in 20 games for the Walleye this season.

A native of Macomb, Mich., Czarnowczan picked up 10 points (2-8—10), 30 PIM and a plus-11 rating in 29 games with the Griffins during the 2014-15 campaign. Along with his time in Grand Rapids, the 24-year-old logged 29 games with Toledo, earning 25 points (2-23—25), 12 PIM and a plus-13 rating.

The Griffins will be back at Van Andel Arena on Sunday to play the Chicago Wolves at 4 p.m.
