GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins on Thursday re-signed right wing Colin Campbell to a two-year contract.

Campbell, 26, established career highs in both points (9-11—20) and assists (11) while skating in 57 games with the Griffins in 2016-17. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound winger added four assists and 15 penalty minutes in 17 postseason games, helping Grand Rapids win the Calder Cup.

Signed by the Detroit Red Wings in 2014 as a free agent out of Lake Superior State University, Campbell has played his entire pro career in Grand Rapids since debuting at the end of the 2013-14 campaign, amassing 44 points (22-22—44), 127 PIM and a plus-15 rating in 184 games. He’s appeared in 36 Calder Cup Playoff games and banked seven points (1-6—7) to go along with 26 PIM.

Prior to turning pro, the Pickering, Ontario, native tallied 64 points (27-37—64) and 64 PIM in 119 games with Lake Superior State (CCHA) from 2010-14. He missed 30 games as a junior while recovering from surgery but bounced back to rank among the team’s leaders with 14 goals (1st), 29 points (2nd) and three game-winning goals (1st) in 36 contests as a senior in 2013-14.

The Griffins will raise their 2017 Calder Cup championship banner and begin the defense of their title on Friday, Oct. 6 at Van Andel Arena against Manitoba when the puck drops on the 2017-18 season with Opening Night presented by Huntington Bank.

Single-game tickets will go on sale to the public on Sept. 8. Fans can secure their full-season, select-season or group ticket packages by calling (616) 774-4585 ext. 2 or visit griffinshockey.com for more information.
