HIRSCHFELD MOVED UP

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins on Tuesday recalled center Alden Hirschfeld from the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye.

Playing in 27 games for the Walleye this season, Hirschfeld leads the team with 26 points (14-12—26) and is tied for second in the ECHL with 14 goals. He compiled a seven-game point streak from Nov. 13-27, including two multi-point games, and is currently in the midst of a five-game point run.

Hirschfeld spent a majority of last season with Toledo and ranked sixth on the team in scoring with 44 points (11-33—44) in 59 games, along with 21 penalty minutes and a plus-15 rating.

The Dallas, Texas, native has also appeared in 25 games with Grand Rapids over the last two seasons, notching a goal and an assist in each of his campaigns with the team. He played in six games with the Griffins during the 2015 Calder Cup Playoffs and scored the series-clinching goal against the Toronto Marlies in Game 5 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.

The Griffins travel to Milwaukee tonight for an 8 p.m. EST start before returning home to face the Admirals at 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.
