GRIFFINS ANNOUNCE PROMOTION AND NEW HIRE
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins on Tuesday announced the hiring of Chris Malkiewicz as digital media production coordinator and the promotion of Michael Spruit to digital media production manager.
Malkiewicz joins the Griffins after working as a video intern for the West Michigan Whitecaps this past season. An Oxford, Mich., native, Malkiewicz is a 2017 graduate of Ferris State University with a degree in television and digital media production. He assisted the school’s athletic department during his time on campus, serving as a videographer and photographer for the Division II softball team from 2015-16.
Spruit receives his second promotion within the digital media department since initially joining the Griffins as a video production intern for the 2013-14 season. Spruit has played an integral role in the Griffins’ award-winning digital media production team by assisting in a number of notable projects, including the “Between the Benches” series recapping Grand Rapids’ 2017 Calder Cup championship and the popular LEGO stop-motion videos. Earlier this summer, the Griffins’ “LEGO – I Wanna Drive the Zamboni” video won a Golden Matrix Award for Best Music Video at the 2017 Information Display and Entertainment Association (IDEA) conference, beating out other finalists from the NBA and NHL. A native of Grand Rapids, Spruit graduated from Michigan State University in 2010 with a media, arts and technology degree.
