DETROIT MAKES ROSTER MOVES

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Saturday assigned center Riley Sheahan to the Grand Rapids Griffins and reassigned center Louis-Marc Aubry and left wing Trevor Parkes from the Griffins to the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye.

Sheahan, 22, has appeared in four games with the Wings this season, recording two points (0-2—2) and a plus-two rating. The St. Catharines, Ontario, native tallied two assists, his first career NHL points, in Detroit’s 5-4 shootout victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Dec. 21. Detroit’s first choice (21st overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Sheahan has recorded 14 points (6-8—14), a plus-four rating and 10 penalty minutes in 23 games with the Griffins this season.

Aubry, 22, has appeared in four contests with the Griffins this season, posting five PIM. The 6-foot-4, 213-pound forward has skated in 130 career games with Grand Rapids since 2011, registering 28 points (9-19—28) and 104 PIM. A native of Arthabaska, Quebec, Aubry set a career-high 60 PIM in 64 games and notched 12 points (4-8—12) during the 2012-13 season, when he won the Calder Cup with the Griffins. He has also played in 10 games with the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye this season, notching five points (3-2—5) and six PIM.

Parkes, 22, leads the Walleye in scoring with 24 points (13-11—24) in 21 games this season. Since beginning his professional career in the 2011-12 season, Parkes has split shifts between the Walleye and the Griffins, tallying 58 regular season points (31-27—58) and five playoff points (3-2—5) with Toledo and 17 regular season points (5-12—17) with Grand Rapids. The 6-foot-2, 202-pound forward has skated in four games with the Griffins this season, posting two PIM.

The Griffins will battle the Toronto Marlies on Monday at 5 p.m. in the franchise’s first-ever outdoor game. The historic showdown will take place at Comerica Park in Detroit, Mich., as part of the Hockeytown Winter Festival.
