DETROIT ASSIGNS SEVEN

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Sunday assigned defensemen Joe Hicketts, Dan Renouf and Vili Saarijarvi, forwards Axel Holmstrom, Dylan Sadowy and Dominic Turgeon, and goaltender Tom McCollum to the Grand Rapids Griffins. Additionally, Detroit has released forwards Colin Campbell, Matt Ford and Dominik Shine from their professional tryouts, returning them to Grand Rapids.

The Griffins’ roster now stands at 19 players as Grand Rapids will make its practice debut at Van Andel Arena tomorrow.

The Griffins will raise their 2017 Calder Cup championship banner and begin the defense of their title this Friday, Oct. 6 at Van Andel Arena against Manitoba when the puck drops on the 2017-18 season with Opening Night presented by Huntington Bank.
