cc13_primary.jpgOne More Magic Number

After winning the Midwest Division (and the Norman R. (Bud) Poile Trophy) with last night's 3-1 victory over Peoria, the only thing left for the Griffins to possibly clinch during this final weekend of the regular season is the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference, currently held by Toronto.

Grand Rapids' magic number for overtaking the Marlies is eight points, meaning the Griffins must win their final two games -- tonight at Lake Erie and Sunday in Chicago -- while Toronto loses each of its last two games in regulation. If that does not happen, Grand Rapids will enter the Calder Cup Playoffs as the conference's No. 3 seed.

Worth Repeating

The Griffins have captured their first division title since 2005-06, the sixth in their history and their fourth as members of the American Hockey League.

If The Season Ended Today...

#3 Grand Rapids would face #6 Oklahoma City in the best-of-five Western Conference Quarterfinals. It would mark the teams' first-ever meeting in the postseason.

The Griffins and Barons met four times this season, with each team winning twice on its home ice. Grand Rapids prevailed on Jan. 4 (5-2) and Jan. 23 (5-4 SO) at Van Andel Arena, before Oklahoma City answered with victories on Feb. 8 (3-4) and Feb. 9 (5-7) at the Cox Convention Center.

The Griffins' opponent and game dates for their first-round series will be announced no later than Sunday night, as Grand Rapids' playoff seeding will be determined by results of this final weekend of the AHL’s regular season.

Get Your Playoff Tickets (and a Sweet Deal During the Games)!

Tickets for the Griffins’ first home game of the 2013 Calder Cup Playoffs are now on sale! (Date and opponent TBD.)

Tickets for "Game A," which are included in Griffins full season ticket packages, are priced at $33, $27, $23, $19, $17 and $15 (additional $2 per ticket on day of game), reflecting a league-wide increase of $1 over regular season prices.
