COREAU AGREES TO TERMS

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Thursday agreed to terms with goaltender Jared Coreau on a new one-year contract.

Coreau, 23, enjoyed a breakthrough season during 2014-15, posting a 16-8-1 record in 25 games with the Griffins, along with a 2.20 goals against average, a 0.927 save percentage and three shutouts. Earning the first start of his sophomore campaign on Nov. 29 at Adirondack, Coreau started his AHL season with a six-game winning streak, tying a franchise record previously set by Petr Mrazek in 2012-13 and Tom McCollum in 2013-14.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound netminder later strung together a seven-game winning streak from Jan. 24-Feb. 18 and, within that span, became the second Griffin ever to post back-to-back road shutouts (Jan. 29-30). Coreau was selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 1 and rode his consecutive shutouts to a franchise-record shutout streak of 160:06 from Jan. 24-Feb. 6.

A native of Perth, Ontario, Coreau also appeared in eight games with the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye last season and turned out a 3.01 GAA, a 0.897 save percentage and a 5-2-0 record. In his first professional tour in 2013-14, Coreau registered a 4.03 GAA and a 1-12-6 record in 20 games with the Walleye and a 4.39 GAA and a 0-4-0 record in five games with the Griffins.

Prior to turning pro, Coreau spent three seasons with Northern Michigan University, where he posted a 15-19-4 record, a 2.70 GAA, a 0.919 save percentage and one shutout after starting in all 38 games during his junior year.

Group tickets for six guaranteed home dates at Van Andel Arena are now on sale, along with 2015-16 season ticket packages. Single-game tickets will go on sale to the public in September. Fans can secure their full-season, select-season or group ticket packages by calling (616) 774-4585 ext. 2 or visit griffinshockey.com for more information.
