CONNER REJOINS GRIFFINS

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Monday assigned right wing Chris Conner to the Grand Rapids Griffins.

The 28-year-old native of Livonia, Mich., appeared in six games for the Red Wings during his first-ever stint with his hometown team, collecting three points (1-2—3) and a plus-two rating before breaking his hand on Dec. 13 at Pittsburgh and being placed on injured reserve.

As of his Dec. 1 recall, Conner led the Griffins and ranked sixth overall in the AHL with 23 points (7-16—23) in 20 games. Now fourth on Grand Rapids in scoring, he has recorded seven multipoint games this season, including four three-point outings.

Conner has logged 145 career NHL games with Detroit, Pittsburgh and Dallas, totaling 43 points (17-26—43). He is expected to return to the Griffins’ lineup this weekend when they travel to Abbotsford for a Friday-Saturday set against the Heat. Game time each night is 10 p.m. EST.
