GRIFFINS SIGN PAIR FROM UHL

Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Friday signed left wing Ryan Barnes and center Todd Robinson to professional tryouts.

After spending the last two campaigns with Grand Rapids, the 24-year-old Barnes has played eight games for the United Hockey Leagues Kalamazoo Wings this season, racking up seven points (2-5-7) and two penalty minutes. He signed a previous tryout with the Griffins on Oct. 30 and went scoreless in that nights 4-3 loss to San Antonio.

Robinson, 26, has been a standout for the UHLs Muskegon Fury the past five seasons, collecting 372 points (103-269-372) in just 272 games. After attending training camp with the Griffins, he currently ranks among the UHLs top scorers with 15 points (T11th) and 10 assists (T4th). The Furys third-leading scorer, Robinson is tied for second on that circuit with 11 power play points (3-8-11).

Both players will be available to the Griffins tonight when they continue their nine-game homestand against the Houston Aeros at 7:30.
