GRIFFINS PLAY ON IN OTHER LEAGUES, TOURNAMENTS

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Griffins' 2004-05 season may be over, but several players who finished the year with Grand Rapids are continuing their seasons elsewhere.

Eddie Shore Award winner Niklas Kronwall will play for Sweden at the 2005 World Championship, which begins April 30 in Austria. In his last appearance at the 2003 WC in Finland, Kronwall helped his country claim the silver medal.

Three other Griffins - Greg Amadio (ECHL Columbia), Ernie Hartlieb (ECHL Florida) and Jon Insana (UHL Muskegon) - remain alive in their quests for cups in the lower minors. Florida advanced to the second round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs with a 3-games-to-1 triumph over South Carolina, while Columbia faces a decisive Game 5 tonight versus Charlotte.

Meanwhile, in the UHL, defending champion Muskegon finds itself down 2-1 to Quad City in a best-of-seven series, with Game 4 set for Friday in Moline, Ill.
