Despite firing 42 shots at Joonas Korpisalo, the Griffins suffer their third straight one-goal loss of the Central Division Finals, falling 2-1 to Cleveland. Grand Rapids ties a franchise playoff record with 22 shots during the first period, but Korpisalo establishes the mark for most saves by a Griffins opponent in a playoff period by stopping them all. Tom McCollum turns aside 28 shots and Teemu Pulkkinen tallies two of the Griffins’ five unanswered goals as Grand Rapids seizes a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference Semifinals with a 5-1 victory over Rockford. McCollum becomes the first Griffins goalie to win five consecutive home playoff games while also tying Marc Lamothe’s postseason record of five straight victories overall, set in 2003. As a team, Grand Rapids sets and ties the same franchise playoff marks. (Photos)
