Playing his first game in nearly a month after recovering from an injury, Martin Frk scores a goal 40 seconds in and assists on Matthew Ford’s power play goal at the 8:07 mark to lead the Griffins to a 4-1 victory at Chicago in Game 1 of the Central Division Finals. Jared Coreau makes 27 saves as Grand Rapids improves to 4-0 in these playoffs and 3-0 in its last three postseason games on the road. (Photos)

The Griffins become the 11th team in AHL history to win a best-of-five series after having trailed 0-2, completing their remarkable comeback with a 3-1 victory over Toronto in Game 5 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals. Tom McCollum shines with 35 saves and Alden Hirschfeld nets the game-winner as the Griffins improve to 5-1 overall and 5-0 at home when facing playoff elimination under coach Jeff Blashill. Grand Rapids also moves to 3-0 in winner-take-all contests during Blashill’s tenure, and the Griffins advance to the second round for a third straight year for the first time in franchise history. In the second-longest game in IHL history, Orlando wins 4-3 in triple overtime at Van Andel Arena to take a 1-0 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals. Mike Fountain ties a franchise playoff record with 54 saves, including 22 after regulation, but Hugo Boisvert scores at 11:12 of the sixth period to end the marathon game at 12:39 a.m., five hours and one minute after it began.
