Detroit's 4-1 victory over Dallas gives the Red Wings a 4-2 series win in the Western Conference Final and puts 16 former Griffins in the Stanley Cup Final. The alumni consist of 15 Red Wings -- including young NHL stars Niklas Kronwall, Jiri Hudler and Valtteri Filppula -- and one member of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Facing elimination in the Western Conference Finals and trailing Houston 3-1 in the second period of Game 5, the Griffins rally for a dramatic 5-4 victory at the Compaq Center in the third double-overtime game in franchise history. Stacy Roest ties an AHL playoff record with his fifth game-winning goal of the postseason at 26:35 of overtime, matching Michel Picard with his second goal of the game. Marc Lamothe makes 51 saves to help force Game 6 in Grand Rapids.

On a day when goalie Jani Hurme is named to the IHL’s Second All-Star Team, the Griffins set a number of records in an unbelievable 10-1 win at Cincinnati in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Yves Sarault’s team-record four goals and the Griffins’ IHL playoff-record eight goals in the third period highlight the evening, as Grand Rapids establishes franchise marks for goals, goals in a period and margin of victory. Sarault and Slava Butsayev set franchise playoff records and tie the team’s overall mark with five points apiece.
