Zach Werenski’s goal 12:32 into overtime puts an end to the Griffins’ hopes for a historic comeback from a 0-3 series deficit, as Lake Erie claims the Central Division Finals with a 4-3 win in Game 6. Grand Rapids could not hold an early 2-0 lead, suffering its second overtime setback and fourth one-goal defeat of the series. The Monsters eventually win the Calder Cup behind a 15-2 record, with their only two losses coming at the Griffins’ hands. (Photos)

The Griffins stage the biggest comeback in their playoff history to beat Manitoba 5-4 in Game 7 of the North Division Finals, propelling Grand Rapids into the Western Conference Finals. Facing a 4-1 deficit, the Griffins score four goals in the final 20:01, including Bryan Helmer’s goal with 0.5 seconds left in the second frame, two third-period tallies by Valtteri Filppula, and Darryl Bootland’s dramatic game-winner with 2:06 remaining. Jiri Hudler sets up each of the Griffins’ five goals, setting a single-game franchise playoff record for assists and tying the mark for points. (Photos)
