Grand Rapids claims both the North Division and Western Conference regular season titles with a 5-4 overtime win at Manitoba, giving the team its record 11th straight win, its record-tying 53rd win of the season, and a best-ever mark of 12-1 for the month. Bryan Helmer’s overtime winner gives him 53 points, matching the single-season club mark for defensemen set by Niklas Kronwall. In addition, Jiri Hudler’s three assists give him a franchise-record 57 for the season, and Jimmy Howard extends his team-record winning streak to 12 games, finishing March with a perfect 11-0 slate.

Mike Fountain leads the Griffins to a 5-2 victory at Cincinnati and ties Pokey Reddick’s franchise record with his 30th win of the season.

The Griffins clinch a first-round playoff bye and set a franchise record by allowing only 12 shots in a 1-0 win at Houston. Mike Fountain’s third shutout of the season gives Grand Rapids a total of seven, establishing a new team record.
