A heavyweight battle between the Central Division’s top two teams more than lives up to its billing, as Tomas Nosek forces overtime with nine seconds remaining in regulation and Evgeny Svechnikov scores 1:51 into the extra session to give the Griffins a heart-stopping 5-4 victory over Chicago. Gustav Nyquist’s assist and two goals – including the game-winner with 1:54 left – earn him the franchise’s rookie scoring record and propel the Griffins to a 5-3 win over Hamilton. He finishes the night with 58 points, surpassing the 55 recorded by Glen Metropolit during the 1997-98 campaign. Russ Campbell of Wyoming, Mich., becomes the 5-millionth fan in Griffins history when he walks through the turnstiles 30 minutes before the game. (Photos)
