Syracuse runs its playoff record at the War Memorial Arena to 10-0 with a 5-3 win over the Griffins in Game 3 of the Calder Cup Finals, cutting Grand Rapids’ series lead to 2-1. Joel Vermin scores a pair of goals 57 seconds apart late in the first period to stake Syracuse to the first multi-goal lead of the series, and the Crunch defeat Grand Rapids at home in the finals for the first time ever, following three losses in 2013. Tyler Bertuzzi’s 22nd career playoff goal ties Teemu Pulkkinen for the franchise record, while Nathan Paetsch becomes the 18th player in AHL history to play in 100 Calder Cup Playoff games (75 as a Griffin). With Tampa Bay’s 2-1 win over Calgary in Game 7, Dmitry Afanasenkov and Darren Rumble become the first former Griffins players to win the Stanley Cup.
