Behind a 40-save performance by Cedrick Desjardins, and despite the Griffins’ 42-22 advantage in shots, Syracuse forces the Calder Cup Finals back to New York with a 5-2 win in Game 5. The sellout crowd of 10,834 is the Griffins’ second straight and brings their three-game attendance during the finals to 31,770, or an average of 10,590 (97.7% of capacity). Grand Rapids’ total playoff attendance of 72,360 (over 13 games) sets a franchise record, and its 5,566 average finishes second in this postseason to only Hershey, which averaged 7,559 for its two home playoff games.
