Holding a 2-0 lead in the North Division Semifinals, the Griffins slice a two-goal Bulldogs lead in half on three different occasions before falling 5-4 in just their second home game since March 21. Ville Leino and Brian Lashoff each have a goal and an assist, while Darren Haydar and Garrett Stafford finish with three assists and two assists, respectively. By assisting on Darren McCarty’s first-period goal, Haydar breaks Willie Marshall’s Calder Cup Playoff record with the 72nd assist of his storied postseason career. Grand Rapids ties a franchise playoff record for the most goals scored in a loss (May 24, 2006 at Milwaukee).

Grand Rapids opens the playoffs with a 5-1 win over Cleveland in the IHL Eastern Conference Semifinals, marking the first time ever that the Griffins win their first home game of the postseason.
