Filip Hronek’s career-high four points (1-3—4) pace Grand Rapids to a 6-4 win over Cleveland in the regular season finale at a sold-out Van Andel Arena. Hronek finishes the campaign with 39 points (11-28—39), tying Robbie Russo (2015-16) for the most prolific season ever by a rookie Griffins defenseman. Brian Lashoff logs his 400th regular season game as a Griffin, second in team history to former blueliner Travis Richards (655). (Photos)

The Griffins and Detroit Red Wings announce they have reached an agreement in principle to extend their affiliation for a second five-year term.

Donald MacLean is named the winner of the Les Cunningham Award as the AHL’s Most Valuable Player, becoming the first Griffin to receive the honor. That night, the Griffins capture the Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy as the AHL’s regular season champions with a 4-2 win over San Antonio, increasing their franchise-record totals to 115 points and 55 wins, the third-most in league history.

Goalie Mike Fountain appears in his franchise-record 15th consecutive game and earns his IHL-best 34th win, 4-2 at Kansas City. The Griffins break their record for points, finishing with 113.
