GRIFFINS BLANKED IN MILWAUKEE

MILWAUKEE Despite firing 38 shots, the Grand Rapids Griffins (29-26-2-1) fell 1-0 to the division-leading Milwaukee Admirals (37-18-3-4) at the Bradley Center on Sunday afternoon.

The regulation loss halts Grand Rapids streak of earning at least one point at five games. The Griffins killed all four of their shorthanded situations, snapping a 12-game streak where they had allowed a power play goal.

After the teams were unable to find the twine through the first two periods, Jordin Tootoo solved Joey MacDonald with a blast from the top of the right circle at the 7:51 mark of the third period. MacDonald hadnt yielded a goal to the Admirals in Suds City since a first period goal on Jan. 25, 2004, a span of 169:22

The Griffins peppered the Milwaukee cage in the waning moments of the third period, but Brian Finley turned all of the attempts aside. MacDonald finished with 26 saves.

The Griffins will play their third game in as many nights in a third city on Monday against the Houston Aeros at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota at 8 p.m. Through 58 games for both teams the Griffins trail the Aeros by four points in the standings.
