GRADUATION DAY

DETROIT - Defenseman Brett Lebda, who appeared in all 80 games with Grand Rapids last season as a rookie, made his debut for the Detroit Red Wings in Wednesday's 5-1 win over St. Louis, becoming the 70th Griffins alumnus to play in the NHL.

He scored his first NHL goal - unassisted, no less - at 12:06 of the second period against fellow former Griffin Patrick Lalime, giving Detroit a 4-1 lead. In 13:58 of ice time, Lebda tied for the Red Wings' lead with a plus-two rating.
