In a rivalry that dates to the 2007-08 season, tonight’s rematch is the 100th all-time regular season meeting between the teams. Rockford won the first-ever clash on Oct. 20, 2007 by a 5-1 final at Van Andel Arena. Grand Rapids is 47-35-7-10 in the series and outscored the IceHogs 303-287. Forty-four of the meetings have been one-goal decisions, including 26 that were tied after regulation. The teams have also met once in the postseason, as the Griffins knocked out Rockford in five games in the 2015 Western Conference Semifinals. Grand Rapids’ franchise record for most goals in a single game was set against the IceHogs on Jan. 19, 2013 when the Griffins piled up 11 during a five-goal victory.

The Griffins have dropped five of their last six games and are tied for third place in the Central Division with 61 points. Rockford also has 61 points while San Antonio (60), Chicago (59) and Texas (57) sit right behind. After finishing 1-3 during a 10-day, four-game road trip, Grand Rapids returns to Van Andel Arena tonight for the first time since Feb. 23 to finish off a home-and-home set against the IceHogs and begin a four-game homestand. The Iowa Wild are up next on Wednesday. Tonight is the 20th of 25 times total this season Grand Rapids will play on back-to-back nights.

The Griffins have converted on the power play in five of their last six games overall, going 6-for-27 (22.2%) in the stretch. The power play has accounted for 29.4% of Grand Rapids’ goals and five different players have contributed five or more tallies, led by Chris Terry’s 10. In the last seven home appearances, the Griffins have contributed a power play goal in six of those and gone 9-for-36 (25%).

Red Wings Report
Playing in his 14th NHL game last night, defenseman Gustav Lindstrom picked up his first point while earning the primary assist on Robby Fabbri’s game-winning power play goal at 10:05 of the second period. Detroit defeated Chicago 2-1. Lindstrom became the 184th Griffins alumnus to play in the NHL when he debuted on Feb. 6 at Buffalo. Selected in the second round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft by Detroit, Lindstrom is averaging 15:55 of ice time with the Red Wings.

Back Up, Terr
Chris Terry accumulated his 20th goal and 50th point of the year on Tuesday to mark the seventh time in his nine full AHL seasons that he’s rung up 20-plus goals and the eighth occurrence of 50 or more points. Overall, he places ninth in the AHL in points (50) while pacing the Griffins in goals (20), assists (30), multi-point games (15) and power play goals (10). Terry also led Grand Rapids with 61 points last season and the most recent player to lead GR in scoring in consecutive seasons was Andy Miele in 2014-15 and 2015-16.

Net Nagle
Pat Nagle is 6-3 with a 2.33 GAA and a 0.925 save percentage in his last 10 appearances. He faced a career-high 47 shots in Tuesday’s win at San Antonio and stopped a career-high 44 of them. He has allowed two goals or less in five of his last nine starts. The former Ferris State Bulldog has appeared in 20 games for Grand Rapids this season after totaling only eight games in the AHL – including three with the Griffins – during his first eight pro seasons. If Nagle had enough minutes to qualify (3:44 shy), his 2.32 overall season GAA would be seventh in the AHL.

Lashoff 500
One of only three players in franchise history to be a part of Grand Rapids’ 2017 and 2013 Calder Cup championship teams, defenseman Brian Lashoff needs two more games to become only the second player in team history with 500 or more regular season games played (first chart). In fact, Lashoff’s 498 career regular season appearances rank first among active AHL players who have spent their entire AHL career with the same club and rank ninth all time in league history (second chart).

2001: For the first time since the 1998-99 season, the Griffins lose a game in regulation that they led after two periods. Manitoba rallies from a 2-0 deficit for a 3-2 win.
2002: The Griffins drop a 2-1 decision at Houston, setting a franchise record for futility by totaling just two goals in a four-game span. Prior to Mark Beaufait's goal at 11:37 of the second period, Martin Prusek and Simon Lajeunesse had combined to shut out the Griffins' opposition over a span of 184:07, the longest streak in franchise history.
2005: The Griffins make their first-ever visit to Minnesota for the rematch of a Jan. 22 game in Houston that was postponed due to snowstorms in the Midwest that prevented the Griffins from traveling to Texas. The Aeros take a 3-1 win at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
2012: Ten years into their affiliation, the Griffins and Red Wings announce a five-year extension through the 2016-17 season. That night, trailing 4-0 at Texas entering the third period, the Griffins rally and eventually force overtime on Chris Minard’s goal with 53 seconds left in regulation, but the Stars prevail in overtime for a 5-4 win.
