GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday recalled center Christoffer Ehn from the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Ehn, 22, has split his first season in North America between the Griffins and Red Wings, appearing in 10 games for both clubs.

He began the 2018-19 campaign with Detroit, making his NHL debut in the season opener vs. Columbus on Oct. 4. The 6-foot-2, 193-pound center collected an assist for his first NHL point on Oct. 11 vs. Toronto. Ehn became the 173rd Griffins alumnus to play in the NHL when he made his return to Detroit’s lineup on Nov. 6 vs. Vancouver. In total, he has tallied four penalty minutes and a plus-two rating while averaging 9:19 of ice time.

Ehn was originally selected by Detroit in the fourth round, 106th overall, of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Ehn shows six points (1-5—6), four PIM and a plus-five rating with the Griffins. He picked up his first AHL goal and assist as part of a two-point night on Nov. 3 vs. Milwaukee.

A native of Skara, Sweden, Ehn skated in 147 games with Frolunda in the Swedish Hockey League from 2013-18 and recorded 32 points (11-21—32). He produced career highs in goals (7), assists (10) and points (17) in 2017-18. Ehn helped Frolunda win back-to-back Champions League Tournament crowns in 2017 and 2016 and an SHL title in 2016.

The Griffins host their 19th annual Teddy Bear Toss on Friday against the Milwaukee Admirals at 7 p.m.
