DEFENSIVE DUO RECALLED TO NHL

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins lost a pair of defensemen to NHL recalls on Saturday, sending Kyle Quincey to the Detroit Red Wings and Danny Syvret to the Edmonton Oilers.

Quincey, 21, went scoreless in two games with the Red Wings earlier this season, averaging 12:16 in ice time. He’s appeared in 61 games for the Griffins, ranking third among the team’s defensemen with 20 points (3-17—20). Quincey will be available to play on Sunday when Detroit visits Columbus at 12:30 p.m.

Syvret, 21, begins his third stint with Edmonton this season. He recently spent a month with the Oilers (Feb. 26-March 24), appearing in 12 games to become the 86th Griffins alumnus to play in the NHL. Syvret has averaged a whopping 20:47 in ice time with Edmonton and has led the Oilers in that category twice, including a season-high 27:49 versus St. Louis on March 17.

Syvret, who has contributed 19 points (4-15—19) in 53 games with Grand Rapids, is expected to play on Sunday when the Oilers visit Chicago at 3 p.m. EDT.
