2019-20 Player in Review: Eric Tangradi

After beginning the season in the KHL, 2017 Calder Cup champion Eric Tangradi rejoined the Griffins in December and tallied 13 points (9-4—13) in 21 games.

90 Tangradi signed a one-year contract with the Griffins 90 minutes prior to the opening faceoff against Rockford on Dec. 6. He went on to score the team’s lone goal in a 2-1 shootout loss that night. Tangradi posted nine points (5-4—9) in 22 games for Astana Barys of the KHL before rejoining the Griffins.

4 – 2019-20 marked Tangradi’s fourth season as a Griffin, as he previously suited up for the club from 2015-18. He’s logged 177 points (85-92—177) in 221 career games with Grand Rapids.

4 – Tangradi’s four-game goal streak from Dec. 17-Jan. 5 equaled his career high, which was set Oct. 26-Nov. 2, 2012 with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, and matched Evgeny Svechnikov for a team high in 2019-20.

0.43 – Despite playing in only 54% of the club’s games since joining on Dec. 6, Tangradi tied Filip Zadina for the team lead with a 0.43 goals/game average. In 21 outings he rang up nine goals, which tied for seventh on the roster.

8 – Tangradi found the scoresheet in seven of his first eight Griffins games from Dec. 6-Jan. 5, notching eight points in that span (6-2—8).

26 – Tangradi’s five power play goals this season tied for fourth on the team. He ties Kip Miller for second all time on club charts with 26 career power play goals, trailing only the great Michel Picard, who deposited 40.

85 – Tangradi’s nine goals this season brought his Griffins total to 85, which ranks fifth on the team’s all-time chart. He trails Tomas Tatar by two for fourth and Mitch Callahan by nine for third.

177 – In all, Tangradi has his name scattered about the Griffins’ all-time record book as his 177 career points rank ninth, 85 goals are fifth, 26 power play goals tie for second, 14 game-winning goals are fourth, three overtime goals tie for third and nine unassisted goals place third.

350 – The 6-foot-4, 230-pound forward logged his 350th AHL point with a power play goal on Feb. 11 at Cleveland. Of his 353 points (169-184—353) to date, 177 have come as a Griffin (50.1%), 121 as a Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguin (34.3%), 31 as a Hamilton Bulldog (8.8%) and 24 as a Binghamton Devil (6.8%).

660 – In his 11th season pro season, Tangradi skated in his 650th pro game on Feb. 9 vs. Texas. Originally drafted in the second round by Anaheim in 2007, Tangradi has accumulated 150 games in the NHL between Pittsburgh, Winnipeg, Montreal, Detroit and New Jersey, 488 games in the AHL with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Hamilton, Binghamton and Grand Rapids, and 22 games in the KHL with Astana for a 660 game total.
